The new production by LETSGO and beon.Entertainment celebrated its grand premiere at Teatro Calderón, where the audience delighted in the show’s stage illusionism and tried to uncover Houdini’s most guarded secrets.
Madrid, October 15th.
Last night, Teatro Calderón hosted the official premiere of Houdini: A Magical Musical, one of the most anticipated productions of the season. The event brought together the creative team, the full cast, and numerous figures from the entertainment world who didn’t want to miss the debut of LETSGO and beon.Entertainment’s latest project.
Despite Madrid’s ever-growing musical theatre scene, this premiere stood out above the rest for its innovative approach. The production merges the storytelling and emotional depth of musical theatre with the spectacle of live magic, featuring illusion acts that unfold at a dizzying pace —every two minutes and thirty-six seconds— leaving the audience barely any time to catch their breath. It is a true stage experiment, a concept never before seen in a musical in Spain. Throughout the night, this was undoubtedly what shaped the guests’ reactions of astonishment.
From the early evening, the Calderón’s photocall set the tone for what would be a major night. Cast members walked the carpet alongside familiar faces such as Javi Hoyos, Teresa Gareche, Pablo Meixe, Adrián Lastra, Gerónimo Rauch, and Talía del Val, among others from the theater and media scenes.

Guests explored the show’s immersive preshow experience —an atmospheric introduction to the world of the legendary escapist— and enjoyed a welcome drink before the performance began around 8:30 p.m.

During the intermission, the atmosphere was charged with excitement and wonder. Singer Marta Sango remarked:
It’s incredible —so cool. I’ve always felt that magic and music go hand in hand, and what could be better than a musical about magic? I’d really recommend it to anyone who still has their inner child alive and wants to live in a fantasy world, without the limits of adult logic.
Similarly, Javi Hoyos praised the scale of the production:
The amount of magic in this musical is just wild. Of course we expected magic, but I never imagined so much could fit on that stage, or that it could transport us to such surreal places. Pablo Puyol was outstanding—his voice, his movement, his energy. This musical is going to make everyone who walks into the theater dream.
After the final number, the applause lasted several minutes. With the audience still on their feet, the show’s director and writer Federico Bellone took the stage to thank the team and the audience for their support. He was joined by the technical and creative departments, who received another round of applause, followed by producers Iñaki Fernández (LETSGO) and Dario Regattieri (beon.Entertainment), who expressed their gratitude for the collaboration between both companies and the warm response from the Madrid audience.

Among the guests, reactions after the finale confirmed the general enthusiasm. Pupi Poisson summed up the experience with humor:
The musical was wonderful —there’s acting, singing, dancing, and on top of that, real magic. Not just a few tricks, but more than twenty every couple of minutes! I’d recommend it even to people who claim they don’t like musicals. Here you’ve got everything. I’m actually coming back to see it again tomorrow.
She also praised the show’s leading man:
Pablo Puyol is in top form. He could do the whole show by himself if he wanted. He sings upside down—meanwhile, I walk up a hill and can’t even breathe, let alone sing or photosynthesize—and he keeps singing and acting. It’s amazing. Long live Pablo Puyol.
Mary Capel agreed:
It was spectacular. Pablo Puyol is a star, unstoppable. What he does on stage, no one else in Spanish musical theater could. He’s truly magical.
Actor Tiago Barbosa shared the same impression:
It’s pure magic. I wasn’t expecting it, and I had such a blast. I felt like a kid again—every second something new happened, and the ending had me completely on edge, watching his feet and wondering if everything was okay.
The celebration continued well beyond the curtain call. Guests gathered on the upper two floors of Teatro Calderón —including its newly renovated terrace— where the evening carried on with conversation, drinks, and top-tier catering in a relaxed and festive atmosphere.
After its exclusive preview performances, Houdini: A Magical Musical officially begins its Madrid season —an ambitious production that blends the spectacle of illusion with the emotional power of musical theater. Judging by the audience’s reaction, it’s poised to become one of the major theatrical events of the year.
